The word Arangetram came from the Tamil language (Arangettam - அரங்கேற்றம்). Arangam means ‘stage, and Etram means ‘to ascend’. It means ascending the stage as a dancer after completing years of training in Bharatanatyam, a dance form from India. For many years, I worked with Guru Anupriya Krishnan from Dayton, Ohio to capture the precious moments of her many students’ Arangetrams. Here are some of those pictures.
